From Panohori to Robin’s...
The story of the Katopodis family spans centuries, with roots tracing back to the early 16th century, in Panohori, Lefkada — a place carved from stone, sun, and memory.
Among olive groves, dry-stone walls, and stone-built homes, the first chapter of this family journey was written, shaped by tradition and honor that left their mark on the passing of time.
Known in the local community by the nickname “Kalogiannos,” our ancestors were simple, kind, and hardworking people — a family that carried wisdom and care in their everyday actions.
From generation to generation, olive cultivation was not only a means of livelihood, but a way of life. Our family held a deep understanding of the land and, with respect for nature, tended to their groves with patience and passion.
At different times, the family also operated olive mills, further strengthening the bond with olive oil — that precious element that brought generations and communities together.
Our family continued to create and invest in a place it deeply loved, keeping traditions alive.
Through hard work and dedication, we planted new roots, while our love for the land and its values remained unchanged, passed down from one generation to the next.
At the heart of this journey was our forefather, Thomas Katopodis — known as “Kalogiannos.” A calm and honest figure, modest and industrious, he left an indelible mark on both our family and the local community.
His nickname, full of warmth and character, was carried proudly through the generations as a symbol of respect and identity.
The figure of Kalogiannos, which became our historical symbol, was not just kept alive through oral tradition.
Inspired by his character and life philosophy, the great Ionian poet Aristotelis Valaoritis dedicated an entire poem to him.
Among the most cherished and iconic verses is this one:
“But I don’t want tears, keep sorrow far from me.
My royal palace is the branch of the wild olive,
and joy is my way of life.
I want to live carefree, as long as I have wings.”
Within these lines lives the spirit of our family — freedom, the joy of simplicity, and a deep connection with the earth and nature.
Robin’s is not just a place to stay; it is a space filled with history, passion, and heart.
It is the continuation of a family that has loved this land — and now shares it with a smile, with authenticity, and with respect.
Welcome to Robin’s.
